Overview
Company
Carl Drive is a SaaS platform that helps car manufacturers and dealerships offer digital test drive and car buying experiences. The product allows users to book a test drive, choose a configuration, and purchase a car entirely online — without visiting a dealership.
Project
The project was a redesign of an existing mobile application. While the core structure and logic remained intact, the user interface was completely updated, and several UX improvements were introduced. These changes were driven by evolving mobile technologies, new design best practices, and feedback collected from users of the previous version.

The Problem
By the time we started the redesign, the Carl Drive app was already 5–7 years old. Its design was outdated, both visually and functionally. Many standard UX patterns and features that had become common in modern apps were missing or poorly implemented.
The main goal was to completely refresh the visual language and improve the user experience. We aimed to make the app more intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing, while also bringing it in line with current mobile UI and UX best practices. The redesign also had to ensure technical scalability for further feature development and brand-specific white-label adaptations.

Approach & Process
We began with a moodboard to define the visual direction — collecting references, design styles, and interface ideas that matched the tone we wanted for the new Carl Drive experience.
Based on that, we created an initial concept that outlined the overall look and feel. This helped us align early on with stakeholders and product expectations.

Throughout the process, we explored multiple UI variations for core components like car cards and booking flows. We gathered feedback at each stage, iterated on layouts and interactions, and refined the visual details.
The final iteration was approved by the product manager and served as the foundation for development.

Solution
We focused on rebuilding the app’s interface using modern mobile design patterns and a modular visual system. Our main goals were to improve clarity, streamline user flows, and create a premium look that fits the automotive domain.
Key design solutions included:
A clean and scalable UI kit for components like car cards, booking slots, and navigation
A simplified booking process with clear CTAs and fewer steps
Redesigned car pages with visual hierarchy and focus on key decision-making info
An intuitive onboarding and registration experience
A layout system built for easy adaptation across devices and brands
Each design decision aimed to reduce friction, support user goals, and align with updated usability standards.

White-label Expansion
One of the core strategic directions of the Carl Drive platform was its ability to scale as a white-label solution for major automotive brands.
We designed a modular, brand-agnostic interface system that could be easily adapted for different visual identities and customer experiences. This allowed car manufacturers such as Audi, Volkswagen,
Mercedes-Benz, and BMW to launch their own fully branded versions of the app — offering the same functionality through a customized design system.

Results
The redesign led to a significantly improved user experience and visual consistency. Users were able to book test drives and navigate the app more easily, and the updated look reinforced trust and professionalism.
